old and new

Here are three paintings I recently worked on. The first is a painting I did last night with the brush-ka-teers of cotton. I really liked the simplicity of style I tried. I was very pleased with the iron and leaving the lighter orange around the edges of it. I learned about a "wash" too. The next painting is of Tryon palace garden gate. I re-did the flowers and their background to help them stand out more. I also re-did the old pump pic with just a lighter green backing to help the pump have a bit more prominence. Thanks for looking and as always, feel free to comment. Dean

Snow Barn

This a painting from a picture I took during the snow storm last year. It is a 16x20. That is a big piece for me! Up close I speckled snow flakes on it. I painted it on a tuesday night paint out with the "brush-ka-teers" ! Their work is beautiful and I will post pics later. I have been doing more paintings I have just been remiss on posting. Will try to keep up with it now. As always, feel free to comment. Dean

Last Catch

Here is a picture I painted with Mitchell Morton. He had a photograph in which we painted from. Personally, I really like this picture. The subject and the colors go well together.

Here are a few new pictures I have done . The first is right out of my head with a pic to look at. I felt like I was doing a paint by number. The second is a street in downtown Trenton, NC. I had a bunch of fun with color and trying different things . SOLD this one today!

Melons for everyone!

Here are a few melons we painted last tuesday. We had a blast! The first one is Bernie's, then Steven, Mitchell then mine. I could not seem to get the color of the exterior right so I changed it! Anyway, I also zoomed in really close so I would not have as much to paint too! Once again it was great fun for the "brush-ka-teers"! As always, feel free to comment, Dean

compliments exercise

Thought I would have some fun with this one. I painted everything in its complimentary color. So all the red was really green, orange blue. I took liberty and just painted the tree trunk blue because I wanted to. As always feel free to comment, Dean
