Watermelons galore!

We were overwhelmed with watermelons last night! Last night was the gathering of the "4 brush-ka-teers"! We painted watermelons. I really thought they would be extremely difficult but they were not as hard as I anticipated. It was all we could do to keep from eating the still life! Ha! But it did go home with Bernie so who knows its fate as of today. The first picture is the still life itself. The next is Mitchell's, then Stephen's, Bernie's and lastly mine. We all had a great time and and loads of fellowship and learning. As always feel free to comment. Dean

Getting there

Here are a couple of pictures I did that are getting closer to a style I would like to be able to paint better. If that made sense ??? Anyway, I like impressionism or maybe minimalism (if that is even a style). I would like to be able to insert something into a picture with minimal amount of strokes. Well. here they are anyway. New pics

Here are 2 new pics I painted this weekend. These are my 1 hours. I am trying to paint faster and are trying to do a pic in an hour. So far so good. It is a lot of fun to push at it. thanks for looking. Dean

old barn

Tonight I painted an old barn. I had never tried one in acrylics. I am learning how to get a focal point and building in layers. This is a 6x8 and I did it in an hour. I am trying to push myself by limiting time so I keep the painting loose and fun. Feel free to comment, Dean

festival

redo

Had a redo! I heard from various people that the lighthouse was not "reading" correctly. I took the painting to Bernie to get some ideas. He said it was too "cut and paste" and needed some dimension. We talked about adding shading and I agreed so here it is. Thanks for bearing with me in my mistakes and giving me constructive help. Thanks for looking, Dean
