THe "OOPS" artists strike again. This time we visited the Faulkner estate and enjoyed their hospitality and scenic views. I attempted the dock with the marsh- like background. My major concentration was on perspective. I am pleased with the outcome but still have plenty of room to grow. I found it difficult to mix colors. I need to learn how to use colors that work in harmony with each other. I feel my greens across the water are too green. I also am learning a lot about shadows and attention to detail. Speaking of detail I am not sure how to handle repetitive things such as the boards in the dock. Oh well I will learn in time. It was very windy today and I actually came away with bugs stuck to the painting. I was going to leave them in for authenticity but opted to remove them. All in all it was once again a great time for fun and fellowship around the canvas. Feel free to comment. Constructive criticism is welcome.

Nice job, dude!
You are improving so much with your techniques. After reading your blog, you are exactly right. Every artist will eventually develop their own technique of painting. I have been painting for 19 years now and i have had a great time with each one i have painted . You learn from each one you do and in eventually begin to develop your own technique. I have found with that after i chose acrylic - that i tend to be more comfortabel with that instead of oil - although i do oils once in a while. I just like working with acrylics. Acrylic is the first media i started with - i think that's why i love it so much. I once had an art teacher to tell me that you need to paint something everyday in order to perfect yourself in this skill. That was over 30 years ago. He was exactly right. Another thing that proves so helpful in developing your skills as an artist is the critiques from others. It is so amzing how critiques of your work will help you. I critque Earl's paintings all the time - but it has proven to " help " him " in each one he does,:)
Dean - great job done at the Faulkner Estate - overall i think this to be one of your best plein air's that i have seen. Keep up the great work !
