upside down

I was on jerry's artorama's (?) website and was watching a Mike Rooney video. He showed how to graph a photo and then painted it upside down. Notice the lines in the photo? He said it helped to loosen him up and to get where you only paint the shapes you see and not the picture.  It keeps you from painting what you think you see and only the shapes.   Well I thought I would give it a try. So Itook this photo and sectioned it off. I then turned it upsie down and painted the shapes I saw.  I did not try and get real color specific, I just tried to stay in values (still don't have the hang of it). All in all it was awesome! I really enjoyed it and am definitely going to do it a lot more.  The way I will remember I painted it upside down was I signed while it was upside down! Ha!
